Previous experience is not always essential.
What matters far more is personality, confidence, adaptability and whether the individual genuinely enjoys the kind of work they are applying for.
Clients regularly look for a huge variety of babies, children, teenagers and adults, so there is no single "look" that makes somebody suitable for agency representation.
Different age groups do, however, need different qualities.
Babies should generally be happy, settled and comfortable around unfamiliar adults and new surroundings.
They may be required to work in studios, on location or around production crews, so being reasonably adaptable and relaxed is important.
There is no particular appearance we look for.
Clients request babies of all backgrounds, appearances and personalities, and suitability is often far more about temperament than looks.
Children should be comfortable meeting new people, working around adults and other children, and being in unfamiliar environments.
They should be able to listen, follow simple direction and communicate confidently enough for their age.
Personality is hugely important.
Some clients want outgoing, lively children. Others want quieter, more natural personalities. There is no one type that suits every brief.
The most important thing is that the child genuinely wants to take part and enjoys the experience.
Teenagers should be comfortable in front of the camera, able to follow direction and confident communicating with casting professionals and production teams.
Previous experience or drama training can be useful, but it is not essential for every type of work.
Clients regularly look for a broad range of appearances, personalities and experience levels.
Adults should be reliable, professional, confident in front of the camera and able to take direction.
For commercial and photographic work, previous professional experience is not always essential. Clients often look for natural, everyday people as well as experienced performers, so suitability will depend very much on the individual brief.
Our actors / Featured Artists division is different.
Adults applying for acting representation should be trained, experienced performers with proven professional experience.
We are particularly interested in actors who can demonstrate experience in film, television, commercials and other professional screen work. Theatre experience can certainly be valuable, but theatre alone would not normally be enough for this division.
Applicants should already understand the professional audition and self-tape process, be confident performing on camera and be able to provide evidence of their previous work, training and credits.
Our acting division is therefore not intended as an entry point for somebody simply wishing to "have a go" at acting.
Not necessarily.
Many artists begin with little or no professional experience.
Commercial and photographic work often depends more on personality, natural confidence, appearance, availability and how closely someone matches the client's brief.
Acting roles may require stronger performance ability, particularly for more demanding featured work, so applicants seeking acting representation should be comfortable performing on camera and preparing self-tapes.
Before submitting an application, ask yourself:
Does the child or artist genuinely want to do this?
Are they comfortable meeting unfamiliar people?
Can they listen and take direction?
Are they happy being photographed or filmed?
Are they reasonably confident in new environments?
Can you be flexible when auditions or bookings arise?
Are you prepared for the fact that work is never guaranteed?
If the answer is yes, they may be well suited to agency representation.
Applications to Bizzy Agency are assessed individually, and we consider a wide range of ages, appearances, backgrounds, abilities and experience levels.
